Due to a moratorium by the Oklahoma Capitol Preservation Commission on any projects on the Capitol grounds until the legal proceedings and controversy surrounding the 10 Commandments monument are resolved, the sponsors of SB 1159, which would authorize a privately funded monument of The Bill of Rights at the Capitol, have decided to not pursue passage in the 2014 session.
With thanks to Senator Patrick Anderson (R-Enid) and for the unanimous support we received from the Oklahoma Senate, we will continue our outreach on this effort in preparation for the eventual re-introduction of the authorizing resolution in a future session of the legislature.
